How about the CHINESE dictionary?

Well, since chinese is the largest native language i am surprised people are not asking for chinese dictionary though. Besides, there is Chinese-English CEDICT wordlist database available at http://www.mandarintools.com/cedict.html

The problem seems to be in incorporating the chinese characters to the program engine for the dictionary to be REALLY useful for the potential users. (The same goes for japanese..) Looking at the capacity provided by memory cards and the java benchmarks of the recent phones, the size of program should no more really matter. The simple dictionary just like this is available at http://www.fphil.uniba.sk/~kjkva/sinologia/en_index.html

If there will not be the 3-way searching (by english, by phonetical transcription - pinyin, by chinese) in the preliminary version of this kind of dictionary, it might be enough to allow searching based on english pinyin and for the chinese characters to be at least shown passively. Ommiting the characters at all won't be a big deal since sooner or later the problem of showing them must be faced in the chinese dictionary (so as in the japanese dictionary.. - these are hardest to code, but nowdays most wanted :)

Good luck

keep the AWESOME work

Thank you for the tips, we will probably start working on support for non-latin characters in the next few months. We are also planning to incorporate greek and russian alphabets to the dictionary.

Yours sincerely,
